What Are Same-Day Crowns?
Dental crowns are customized caps placed over the surface of a damaged or decayed tooth to restore its look and function. They can also help protect the tooth from further damage or bacteria, providing coverage above the gumline and maintaining your oral health.
Dr. Lavi can take impressions of your teeth to provide you with customized dental crowns specifically made to match the shape, size, and color of your surrounding teeth for a seamless appearance. Not only do crowns preserve your tooth’s structure, but they’re also a more affordable and less invasive alternative to tooth extractions.
Advanced CEREC® Technology
Thanks to our state-of-the-art CEREC (Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramics) technology, Dr. Lavi can provide you with a new smile in just a single appointment by creating your same-day crowns in our office. The result is a durable solution for fixing damaged or decayed teeth, restoring your smile to perfection in the process.
The CEREC system allows Dr. Lavi to generate high-quality 3D images of your entire mouth for greater precision than ever before. It doesn’t require messy, uncomfortable impressions, and best of all, you can enjoy all the benefits of a beautiful smile in as little as one hour.
Benefits of Same-Day Crowns
Same-day crowns are a convenient option for patients looking to quickly restore their smiles in just a single appointment. This popular treatment offers many unique benefits, such as:
- No messy dental impressions
- Enhanced comfort and convenience
- Unmatched precision and accuracy
- Less time spent in the dentist’s chair
- Minimally invasive procedure
When Are Dental Crowns Necessary?
Dental crowns are a great solution for patients looking to restore their smiles while preserving their natural teeth. Dr. Lavi may recommend dental crowns to patients whose teeth are:
- Cracked, chipped, or broken due to injury or trauma
- Severely decayed
- Treated with root canal therapy
- Crooked or misshapen
- Stained or discolored
While dental crowns are an ideal treatment for many patients, they’re typically reserved for patients with specific dental issues. Depending on the severity of your teeth’s damage or decay, Dr. Lavi may recommend a different treatment to ensure you get the best results.

Creating Your Crowns
Your journey to a restored smile begins by having an initial consultation with Dr. Lavi. He’ll perform a thorough evaluation of your oral health to determine if dental crowns are right for you. He’ll also discuss other dental treatment options, if necessary.
If approved for crowns, Dr. Lavi can start the procedure by cleaning the targeted tooth and removing any lingering plaque or decayed tissue that could pose a complication. He’ll also remove a small portion of your tooth’s enamel to make room for the crown.
Once your tooth has been prepped, we’ll use our CEREC technology to take a detailed digital image of your mouth. This eliminates the need for messy impressions and allows Dr. Lavi to create your customized dental crown right here in our Studio City or Los Angeles office.
Placing Your Crowns
Unlike traditional methods of making dental crowns, which require patients to wait as their fixtures are being created at a lab, we can create your crowns in our office so that you can receive your restoration the same day. In four to 20 minutes, Dr. Lavi will have your customized dental crown ready for placement
After your crown is created, Dr. Lavi will apply a dental composite to attach and secure the crown to your tooth. He’ll make any necessary adjustments to ensure the crown fits naturally and comfortably. To finish the procedure, Dr. Lavi will apply polish to make your crown look like a natural tooth. Afterward, you’ll then be ready to leave our Studio City or Los Angeles office with a beautiful new smile!
Frequently Asked Questions
Same-day dental crowns are an ideal solution for patients looking to quickly restore their healthy smiles. However, these custom-crowns are reserved for certain levels of tooth damage or decay. Depending on the condition of your tooth, Dr. Lavi may recommend an alternative dental procedure.
For example, if your tooth is beyond saving, tooth extraction may be necessary. Dr. Lavi will perform a thorough evaluation of your oral health at your initial consultation to make the best-informed decision about your treatment plan.
Because they’re resistant to staining, whitening treatments won’t have any effect on crowns. However, this also means the color of your crowns won’t fade over time like natural teeth. Since dental crowns are crafted to mimic the color of your natural teeth, we recommend undergoing a whitening treatment beforehand so your crown will match your pristine white smile.
If your crown becomes damaged, don’t attempt to fix or reattach it yourself, as this could cause further complications. Instead, contact our Studio City or Los Angeles office immediately to schedule an appointment with Dr. Lavi. He’ll assess the damage to determine whether your crown can be fixed or replaced with a new restoration.
The cost of your treatment will depend on several factors, such as how many crowns you receive. We recommend contacting your dental insurance provider ahead of time to learn what your plan will cover. Dr. Lavi will also provide you with a cost estimate at your initial consultation.
You can learn more about our affordable financing options. We recommend looking into CareCredit, a third-party financing service designed to help patients pay for treatments. Applying online is quick and easy, and you may qualify for financial assistance regardless of your insurance status.
